Locations

Airways Kiteboard School uses a number of different locations depending on wind direction, swell and general weather conditions. Depending on where the student is based will also be a factor as to which location is used.

Favourite spots include:

Aberavon Beach (South Wales), located on the M4 West, Junction 40. This sandy beach has a high tidal rise and fall which makes it ideal for learning except on spring high tide when the water consumes most of the beach! The water is generally flat with little swell. The beach is south west facing, approximately 2 miles long and generally has on-shore winds. Approximately 1 hours drive from Bristol.

Swansea Bay (South Wales), located M4 West, Junction 42, A483 to Swansea. This is the same stretch of beach as Aberavon separated by a river mouth. The beach is south/east facing and is ideal in easterly winds. This sandy beach has a high tidal rise and fall which makes it ideal for learning except on spring high tide when the water consumes most of the beach and on spring low it gets a bit muddy! Approximately 1¼ hours drive from Bristol.

Pendine Sands (South Wales), located just before Tenby in Pembrokeshire. M4 West to Carmarthen, A40 to St Clears, A4066 to Pendine. This beach has a high tidal rise and fall which again makes it ideal for learning. The beach is south facing and the wind is predominantly south westerly which makes it cross on-shore which is perfect for kite surfing. Its approximately 7 miles long so there's plenty of room for land kiting and water kiting. Approximately 2½ hours drive from Bristol.
